Do I need a lawyer to represent me in my pending lawsuit?

The law does not require you to hire a lawyer to assist with your pending suit.  However, anyone opting to represent themselves are then held to the same standards as a licensed practicing attorney.  That entails understanding the applicable Rules of Civil Procedure, Evidence, Local Court Rules, as well as any Standing Rules or procedures maintained by the Judge or Magistrate to whom the case has been assigned.
