When Will I Receive my Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Discharge?

Posted by Stefen K. Shamberg | Aug 14, 2024

To receive a Discharge of your debts in a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy you will have to participate in a 341 Meeting of Creditors where you will be examined by the Trustee assigned to administer your case.  That is usually scheduled about 3-5 weeks after your Petition is filed.  Then, by law, the Judge has to wait a minimum of two (2) months and ten (10) days from the date of that Hearing before they can issue the final Order of Discharge.  So that typically occurs around four (4) to five (5) months after the case filing.
